Jorge Fernando
Jorge Fernando is a defining figure in contemporary Portuguese music, a singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer whose work has shaped fado for five decades.
He is the author of classics such as Trigueirinha, Pode Ser Saudade, Boa Noite Solidão, Búzios, Quem Vai ao Fado and Chuva. His creative vision expanded the language of fado through collaborations with artists from pop, rap, classical music and world music.
At the age of 20 he joined Amália Rodrigues, travelling with her to prestigious stages including Carnegie Hall in New York and the Olympia in Paris. His international collaborations include Lúcio Dalla, A Filetta, Egberto Gismonti, Mika, Tim Ries, Toninho Horta and Sam The Kid.
Jorge Fernando took part in Madonna's documentary Madame X, and his song A Sós com a Noite was performed by Prince. His career unites tradition, innovation and an exceptional gift for writing songs that cross generations.
